Adding suffixes rule 1 and 2: Explains the first rule, that if the word ends in two consonants, then the suffix is added; and the second rule, which is if the word is a one syllable word and ends in a short vowel then a consonant, double the last letter. It gives the children opportunity to put this knowledge into practice with an activity.
Adding suffixes rule 3: Explains that if a word ends with a consonant then e, the e is dropped before the suffix is added. It ends with a quick write activity to add suffixes to a variety of words that end in e.
