Spelling resources to teach the spelling rule:
If the last syllable of a word is stressed and ends with one consonant letter which has just one vowel letter before it, the final consonant letter is doubled before any ending beginning with a vowel letter is added. The consonant letter is not doubled if the syllable is unstressed.
Adding vowel suffixes to words of more than one syllable: An explanation of what syllables are, with examples of words with the last syllable stressed and unstressed. It ends with a 20 page activity where the children have to choose whether the last letter is doubled or not.
Adding suffixes beginning with vowel letters matrix: A matrix to fill in with example words with stressed and unstressed final syllables.
